A prescription for global enlightenment. Dr. Ilchi Lee's first book released in English, reached #1 in Amazon.com overall sales ranking within a month of publication. Dr. Seung Heun (Ilchi) Lee said, " I wrote this book because I wanted to call upon the world to embark on an Enlightenment Revolution and to let everyone know of their own right to enlightenment." The author emphasizes throughout the book that enlightenment is not just for a select few, but available to everyone. He defines enlightenment as "a simple choice that you make to live your life for the betterment and benefit of all those around you." One needs only to make that choice, and then develop the discipline to live out that choice.
Part of becoming enlightened involves training your life energy, or Ki. Dr. Lee explains exactly how to do this. He has also developed a technique called "Brain Respiration" as a "realistic and everyday form of spiritual training" for all those people who don't have the time or inclination to go live on a mountain top or join a monastery.
Once people achieve personal enlightenment, the next step is global enlightenment. Dr. Lee says that we once all lived together as enlightened beings in harmony, and that we have deep spiritual longings to regain this world. In order to do that, "we need to recover the sense of Oneness and harmony that we have lost." That requires making both a personal and a collective choice to be enlightened. He wants at least one hundred million people to be spiritually enlightened by the end of this decade. "The healing vibration of their choices and determination will cure the Earth of the ills we have caused," he says.
This book includes stories of the author's personal experiences in his quest to find the meaning of life. These stories will leave an indelible impression. Even the most skeptical reader should come away pondering death, the meaning of his or her own life, and Dr. Lee's optimistic message for humankind's future.

Preface
I was alone in a remote mountain, having gone without water, food, or sleep for 21 days. I was at my utmost limit, in body and mind. I had an excruciatingly painful headache that pierced through my head in rhythmic and dreadful pounding. My body wouldn't move, nor my tongue form a word. And it was at this moment that the cosmos opened up inside me and swept me into her arms with a loud resounding moment of enlightenment, a deafening crash that seemed to transport me to another world. "Cosmic Mind is My Mind and Cosmic Energy is My Energy!" my mouth automatically croaked in eternal joy, voicing the Oneness that I had glimpsed before and had even known intellectually, but never felt at this level of profound depth.

The purpose of life is really no big deal, although people have generally viewed the question, "Why am I here?" as the ultimate in self-exploration. As with any questions, when you look at it from a different point of view, it is very simple. When you accept that human beings are spiritual beings and that our physical and mental selves, including our personalities, are just tools which we are given to affect our spiritual nature, then the answer just presents itself. The true purpose of life lies in the spiritual maturing process of individuals, society, and the humanity as a whole.
We are here on earth in such and such shape, form, and mind to strive for the completion of our spiritual selves, not only as individuals but as the whole humanity. We are here to heal our souls and come closer to recovering the divine nature - our spiritual nature - through the physical and mental tools that we have been given. "My body is mine, not me." "My mind is mine, not me." These two sentences form the centerpiece of this spiritual point of view. If the physical body and metal acuity that you have been born with are not 'You' but just tools temporarily lent you for you to experience things that will mature you spiritually, then who is the real you? Simple. Your spiritual nature. And since your spiritual nature is essentially a part of the Cosmic Spirit, and so is the spiritual nature of everyone else's, then your spiritual nature and someone else's spiritual nature are parts of the same Grand Spirit. This is why every spiritual and religious leader in the history of humankind have told us that we are One. Another way to describe the spiritually maturing process, this spiritual awakening that is our true purpose of life is enlightenment. The true purpose of life for every human being is, therefore, to reach enlightenment.

For how long are we just going to continue to learn only? For how long are we just going to study the Truths spoken by Jesus, Buddha, and other Wise Teachers? Now it is time to live out this Truth. We all need to discover the light of divinity that we possess inside and then let this light illuminate the road that we take. A lone superhero is no longer enough to carry all our hopes. Our hopes can only be carried by the multitude who accept and let this light of divinity blossom forth from their collective hearts. When you open your mind, it can cover the universe. When you close you mind, it will become smaller than the smallest pinprick... I declare that it is time to open up our minds and greet the dawn. I declare that it is time for an Enlightenment Revolution to forever cure the ills of our society. I declare it is time for a spiritual-cultural movement to uplift the whole of humanity to its spiritual heritage. And if enough people join in and open up their minds and reach for their divine potential within

Ah, let us all imagine the wonderful possibilities.

Here is an extraordinary book from an extraordinary man. In this small package comes an enormous secret: there is way to heal our worldwide society, forever. That way is revealed on these pages, with wonderful insight and great wisdom.
- Neale Donald Walsch, Author of Conversations with God series
His message is one of love and compassion. For Dr. Lee, enlightenment is not some obscure mystical path attainable only for those few who sit meditating on a mountaintop. He offers a common sense way to fulfillment for every individual. His philosophy guides us to a peaceful world in which all living creatures are accorded respect and compassionate treatment.
- Seymour Topping, former administrator of the Pulitzer Prizes and professor of International Journalism at Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism
Seung Heun Lee clearly explains how this "noble enlightenment" is meant for everyone, and that by getting into contact with this sense of oneness men and women can illuminate the world and secure their children's future in a transformed world. Healing Society is a very highly recommended addition to Eastern tradition, spirituality, metaphysics, and self-help reading lists and reference collections.
